Governor Speaks About Wyoming’s Legacy of Strong Leadership at Rotary Luncheon: Stressing Wyoming’s future is at a crossroads
CHEYENNE, Wyo. - Jan. 14, 2026 - Governor Mark Gordon (R-WY) spoke today at the Cheyenne Rotary Luncheon before a crowd of about 90 community members.
The Governor discussed the work of past Governors and legislatures and the discipline they showed in permanently saving excess mineral revenue–discipline that has led to seeing $913M of investment income this year.
The Governor stressed that Wyoming’s economic future is strong if the State stays the course of prudent spending, keeps a strong commitment to saving excess mineral tax revenue, and ensures we continue our strong investments in the future. These investments are laid out in the Governor’s The Essentials budget and focus on strong families, strong communities and real opportunities. Read more about his priorities on his webpage.
Speaking about Wyoming’s past investments the Governor said, “Because of the way Wyoming has behaved, and because of our conservative background in nature, we have been able to weather those times without a huge loss in direction, a huge loss in the ability to get things done.”
The Governor took questions, many about concerns regarding the current actions of the Joint Appropriations Committee this week. He also debuted the first of a series of video messages about The Essentials Budget.
