FREE AMERICA: PROTEST ON JANUARY 20TH

Join us for a coordinated act of peaceful resistance. At 2 PM local time, thousands across the country will walk out of work, school, and commerce to say: we do not consent to authoritarianism, secrecy, or lawlessness.

This is not just a rally; it’s a disruption of routine power. When we step away from our roles in the system, we expose how deeply institutions rely on our cooperation. That’s leverage. That’s visibility. That’s how movements grow.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
In order to ensure a safe an effective rally on the 20th, we will need volunteers for a few critical roles:

-Safety Captains (de-escalate confrontations, report dangerous situations, direct attendees away from the street)
-Parking Direction (keep people from parking where they may be towed)
-Hydration Wagon (provide water/ice to anyone affected by the heat who is too far for the first aid/hydration tent)
-First Aid  (call the emergency line if there are any major health-related incidents, provide water/ice to anyone who has overheated)

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ANY OF THESE ROLES, PLEASE JOIN US AT HEADQUARTERS (2706 20TH ST) ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 16th  4:00PM. YOU CAN ALSO JOIN VIA ZOOM WITH THE BUTTON BELOW. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT ALL PROTEST VOLUNTEERS ATTEND THIS MEETING

Join the Democrats of Indian River as we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by marching together in the annual MLK Day Parade. This is a joyful, community‑centered event celebrating unity, service, and the ongoing work of building a more just and equitable future.

Wear your Democratic attire—shirts, hats, buttons, anything that shows your blue pride. You’re welcome to bring signs, too, as long as they are positive and celebratory (think pro‑MLK messages, our logo, themes of unity and equality). No protest signs for this event.

Line‑up officially begins at 8:00 AM at 28th Court and 45th Street, though our group will gather closer to 9:00 AM. The parade steps off at 10:00 AM.

Bring your energy, your smile, and your commitment to community. Let’s show up strong and walk together in the spirit of Dr. King.

Sign Up for a Shift HERE

Join the Democrats of Indian River for a day of community engagement and voter empowerment. We’ll be hosting a voter‑registration table at the Victor Hart Sr. Community Enhancement Complex, helping eligible residents get registered and sharing important information about upcoming elections.

Volunteers will greet community members, assist with voter registration forms, and distribute literature. No prior experience is required—just a friendly attitude and a commitment to strengthening our democracy.

Shifts are available throughout the day. Sign up for one or stay for multiple if you’re able. Every hour helps us reach more voters and build a stronger, more informed community.
