Community,
We believe in a future without ICE. Where families aren’t torn apart, refugees are welcomed with dignity, and no one is shot in the street for bearing witness to ICE’s actions.
Here are some ways to get plugged in.
- Get trained: MIRAC, IDN, MONARCA (website currently down, check Unidos until it's back!)
- News on the ground: Georgia Fort, On Site Public Media
- ICE watch: Defend the 612, Sunrise Movement TC, MN ICE watch
- Mutual aid is also a critical way to meet the moment. Asks for support can range in level of detail and also come from different sources (organizations, individuals, advocates). We invite you to lean into meeting this moment by trusting the community - moving money to your neighbors even if they aren't able to share a lot of information.
As you know, our organization is about moving money to movement organizations on the ground. For folks who are looking to move money to organizations especially impacted in this moment, here are some Headwaters grantee organizations we'd like to uplift.
- Afghan Cultural Society, Minneapolis
- African Career Education & Resources, Brooklyn Center
- Atlas of Blackness, Saint Paul
- Awood Center, Saint Paul
- Ayada Leads, Minneapolis
- Centro de Trabajadores Unidos en Lucha, Minneapolis

*This is not meant to be an exhaustive list. There are so many critical acts of community care happening right now. Please take this as an offering of what we know - something to get you started!
DEADLINE EXTENDED: Bridging Ecosystems Fellowship
The Bridging Ecosystems (BE) Fellowship deadline has been extended to January 22nd.
We are living through a time of deep uncertainty where our communities are facing colliding crises (political, environmental, social, and financial) that stretch our movements in every direction. The BE Fellowship is an opportunity to build capacity, community, and collective power and will equip grassroots leaders and organizations with the space, skills, and support to adapt and sustain their work amidst shifting realities. Applications are open now through January 22nd at 5 p.m.

Tell us about your Black History Month events!
In the midst of heightened political violence against us, these moments remind us that we need each other. Many of us are mobilizing everything we have to offer - both as individuals and as organizations. As the Black Radiance Network, we see our work as bridge builders and connectors to these offerings. As Black history has shown us, we need the seriousness and we need the light. We know all methods of community care sustain us.
The Black Radiance Network would like to hear about your Black History Month events! We are compiling a list to share with our network in early February. Have an event, celebration, action or other call to community for Black History month? Submit it below.

Rapid Response Fund: Cycle 4 + Info Session
Cycle 4 for the Rapid Response Fund is now open. The Inquiry Deadline is Wednesday, January 28th. The Rapid Response Fund supports strategic organizing around new, rapidly emerging, or unexpected legislative or policy developments, events, and political moments.
We are also offering an Information Session for organizations interested in learning more. Join us on Tuesday, January 20th at 12 p.m. by registering here. All registrants will also receive a recording - please register even if you cannot attend!
Are you a business looking to support Headwaters?
As we continue to fundraise and move money to movement organizations across Minnesota, we're looking for a new type of partnership! We are currently planning a (spoiler alert!) prom themed fundraiser this spring. Are you a business interested in either sponsoring OR offering an item for our raffle? We'd love to hear from you! Help us connect with local businesses and mindful companies who believe in our work for justice!
