Even after more than a decade of covering the local news industry, it still takes me time to remember to get off social media, my phone, national news and wherever else I’m getting information and go directly to the source.

Sadly, in the last week, that source has been journalists and newsrooms in Minnesota.

Today, I’m writing to remind you to go there, too. Here is an incomplete list of newsrooms worth following after an ICE officer shot and killed Renee Good.

  • The Minnesota Star Tribune

  • MinnPost

  • Sahan Journal

  • Minnesota Public Radio

  • St. Paul Pioneer Press

  • The Minnesota Daily

  • Minnesota Reformer

  • Axios Twin Cities

  • KARE 11

  • KMSP

  • KSTP

  • WCCO

  • MN Patch

If you know of any newsrooms covering the Minneapolis metro right now that I didn’t include, please respond to this email and let me know.

While you’re here:

  • From Editor & Publisher, read “U.S. journalists face war zone conditions at home.”

  • And still timely, from Poynter, read my colleague Angela Fu’s previous reporting on how journalists in Chicago covered ICE.

  • Check out the Reynolds Journalism Institute’s News Media Help Desk.

  • And from a piece Poynter co-published with URL Media, read “I’m a community journalist in New York City. Here’s why Mamdani’s ‘influencer presser’ stung.”

That’s it for me. Now might be a good time to remind you (and myself) to lower your shoulders, roll your neck and unlock your jaw. ❤️
