John,
Today is January 13, 2026.
It has been 1,298 days since a major gun violence prevention (GVP) bill was last given a full vote on the House floor. That was July 29, 2022. Since that day, the Senate has remained a graveyard for common-sense reform, failing to hold a single vote on the legislation that would protect our classrooms.
While Washington has been silent, our schools have been anything but. Since that last vote, there have been approximately 1,068 incidents of gunfire on school grounds. That is more than one incident every day.

At Teachers Unify, we are done waiting for the “right time” for a vote. For the 4.6 million children living in homes with unsecured guns, and for thousands of educators who lead lockdown drills with a heavy heart, that time was ages ago.
We are a movement of educators, survivors, experts, and advocates who refuse to let these numbers become normalized. Your support powers our work to:
* Organize Educators: Turning the tapestry of trauma into a powerful legislative lobby.
* Project Lockdown: Driving national awareness for secure gun storage to stop violence before it reaches the school gate.
* Crisis Support: Providing the only peer-to-peer intervention team for school communities in the aftermath of a tragedy.
Congress might be comfortable with almost 1,200+ days of inaction, but we aren’t. We are raising our voices to ensure that 2026 is the year the silence ends.
