On Saturday, thousands of Angelenos hit the streets to demand an end to ICE terror and Trump’s war on Venezuela. Together we showed just how unpopular the actions of the Trump administration are. Stay involved with the fight by joining a DSA-LA action this week.

CD13 Policy Brainstorm Meeting
|
January 15 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
|
Want to identify policies to build working class power in your community? Join fellow DSA members in Council District 13 on January 15 in Hollywood to brainstorm key priority areas for our work in 2026.
Since our socialist in office Hugo Soto-Martinez has closed out his last round of legislative priorities, winning the historic Olympic wage for tourism workers and capping rent increases for rent control tenants, he is looking to build out his legislative agenda for 2026. As the group in the chapter aligned with supporting his office, we have the opportunity to come together and brainstorm ideas to bring to the councilmember. This is an exciting chance to proactively set priorities as an organization instead of just reacting to what comes out of City Hall.
This brainstorm is also an entry point into the CD13 District Committee, which coordinates district-based organizing and works in relationship with Hugo’s office to build working-class power in CD13.
You don’t need to be a policy expert to attend — just a DSA member who lives in the district and has thoughts about what our communities need. Whether your interests are housing, public safety alternatives, workers’ rights, the city budget, transit, or neighborhood issues, your perspective matters.

Wednesday, January 14 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
|
At this orientation, we’ll talk about what capitalism is, how it functions, and why socialism is ideologically opposed to it. Participants will also learn about the history of our organization and our chapter in particular, the current projects we’re working on, and how you can get involved. This is not a lecture, but a meeting for new and veteran organizers to ground ourselves in socialist theory and discuss together how we can put it into action. We’re excited to chat with you and answer your questions!

Organizing Skills Series 1: Structured Organizing Conversations
|
Sunday, January 18 @ 11:00 am - 1:30 pm

Our organizing work relies on our membership stepping up to take on responsibilities and leadership roles. But how do you start that conversation?
This training will review how to have structured organizing conversations, a six-step process to help you recruit new DSA-LA members and/or engage your current membership in your organizing projects. This training is essential for any DSA-LA leader, coordinator, or organizing committee of a branch, campaign, or working group.
