Their whole agenda is one big game of three card monte.

KUOW (1/7/26) reports: "Washington state officials have issued a correction after they were caught exaggerating the benefits of state spending to curb climate change. Proceeds from the state’s quarterly auctions of carbon dioxide permits are keeping far less pollution out of the air than officials have been claiming. Washington’s emissions of heat-trapping carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping gases have been climbing after dipping with the start of the Covid pandemic in 2020. EPA data, shown above, excludes emissions outside the state from electricity consumed inside the state. Data-entry errors on eight projects that subsidized heat pumps and other energy-efficient appliances for low- and moderate-income homes and small businesses led to the overstated claims."

"The oil and gas industry is crucially important for Norway, and should be developed, not phased out."

– Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere

High rates in blue states is proof that policy matters.

Daily Caller (1/10/26) opinion: "Will the affordability issue decide the balance of power in Congress this November? Democrats have pounded on the issue over the last several months based on polling data indicating many Americans blame President Donald Trump and the Republicans for the high cost of living, having apparently forgotten the four years of record inflation brought on by the Biden Autopen presidency and a Democrat-dominated Congress. The cost of electricity has served as one of the focal points for Democrat messaging, as rates continued rising during 2025, driven by massive demand from the booming AI datacenter industry. But a new report by the Institute for Energy Research (IER) warns that Democrat candidates should consider treading lightly on this narrative, because it could backfire on them and their campaigns."

I can't wait for the AOC's of the world to complain that gas prices are too low.

RealClearEnergy (1/11/26) opinion: "The number on the gas station sign says it all: $2.97 per gallon. For the first time in four years, that price will be a reality for the average American in 2026, according to GasBuddy’s report released Tuesday. This is the expected result of a clear shift in how our leaders approach energy: a return to American energy abundance. Energy policy  must be judged by one standard: does it help people live better, more prosperous lives? For too long, our leaders failed us on that front. Policies of restriction from previous administrations drove up costs, weakened our electric grid, and punished working families. In places like California and New York, families pay as much as double the national average for power and rates rise up to three times faster than the rest of the country. The reason is simple: when politicians force an electric grid to depend on sources that only work when the sun shines or the wind blows, operators must build and maintain a second, redundant system of reliable power plants."

Next time a politician or a greenie complains that Trump is keeping coal plants open, send them this...

Los Angeles Times (1/11/26) reports: "The electricity it makes is expensive, its technology has been superseded, and it's incinerating thousands of birds mid-flight each year. The Trump administration wants to see this unusual power plant closed, and in a rare instance of alignment, the Biden administration did, too. But the state of California is insisting the Ivanpah power plant in the Mojave Desert stay open for at least 13 more years. The plant has been plagued by problems nearly from the start. The mirror-and-tower technology that once seemed so promising was outpaced by flat photovoltaic solar panels, which soon proved cheaper and more efficient and became the industry standard. Ivanpah has no on-site battery storage, which means it mainly makes power while the sun is shining, and it relies on natural gas to fire up its boilers each morning. The plant also developed a reputation as a wildlife killer, with a 2016 report from The Times finding about 6,000 birds die each year after colliding with Ivanpah's 40-story towers — or from instant incineration when they fly into its concentrated beams of sunlight."
