This primary is going to be a litmus test. People struggling to get by are tired of career politicians with billionaire donors. They see the rich using their power to get richer while everyday people struggle to make ends meet. Something has to give. Working families in Illinois need a champion fighting for them in Springfield.
Karina Villa is one of my closest friends and a fierce ally of working families. She’s running for Comptroller because she understands that budgets are moral documents. They show who we protect and who we leave behind, and working people have been left behind for far too long.
The comptroller is not just a watchdog or bookkeeper for the state’s finances; they must also be a leader working families can trust to fight for them. And that is who Karina has always been.
