John, Florida and South Carolina’s state legislative sessions will start in just a few days — opening the door for Republicans to push new attempts to redraw congressional maps. Our work to stop Republicans’ attempts to rig our maps before the 2026 midterms is full steam ahead.
Already, it’s looking like 2026 will be a hectic and lengthy legislative season — meaning it might be a while before the congressional maps for the midterm election this November are set. We know that Donald Trump and his allies across the country are going to extreme lengths to keep their grip on power. They've stooped to new lows, including bribery and extortion, to pressure state lawmakers to fall in line. But as Donald Trump’s pressure campaign gets increasingly desperate, the American people are resisting this democratic crisis. In states like Indiana, voters rose up and persuaded a bipartisan majority of state senators to reject the extreme Republican gerrymander. In Missouri, 300,000 citizens signed petitions to put their gerrymandered map on the ballot to fight to restore a fair congressional map. This is a fight we can win — we can stop Republicans from rigging the midterm elections. But it will take all of us working together. Thank you for being with us in this fight — more to come from us soon. Marina Jenkins
