Hey, I’m writing you this email on my phone between campaign meetings, so please excuse any typos. I’ve been thinking a lot about what will happen over the next two days — when Kansas GOP legislators officially kick off their plan to gerrymander me out of office on Monday morning. But most of all, I’ve been thinking about the consequences of this gerrymander. Not for me, personally. But for regular families all across Kansas. If an extreme Republican replaces me next year, what happens to the family in Franklin County who’s struggling to pay their health care premiums every month? What happens to the kids in Kansas City who just want to feel supported at their schools — not ostracized? I’ll be honest: if Kansas Republicans succeed next week, I don’t know exactly what will happen to the state we love. But it won’t be good. That’s why I’m fighting. Until the very last moment.
