Dear Friend,

I wanted to provide an update on the work I am doing in the House of Representatives to represent the great people of Maryland's First Congressional District and to advance commonsense, conservative legislation in Washington, D.C.

Cutting Red Tape to Lower Housing Costs in Maryland’s First District

This week, I voted in strong support of the Affordable HOMES Act, which cuts unnecessary federal regulations that drive up housing costs. The bill removes duplicative energy standards on manufactured housing, making it less expensive to build and easier for families to afford homes. In many parts of Maryland’s First District, manufactured housing is an important option for working families, seniors, and rural communities. By lowering construction costs and reducing red tape, this legislation helps expand affordable housing options and makes homeownership more attainable across our district.

Advancing FY 2026 Appropriations and Delivering Key Wins for Maryland’s First District

This week Fiscal Year 2026 Appropriations continued to make progress with the House passing the FY2026 Energy and Water; Commerce, Justice and Science; and Interior bills. These bills support President Trump’s agenda by curtailing runaway spending all while providing resources for national security, supporting our law enforcement, promoting American energy, and improving our environment.

This funding package delivered several wins for Maryland’s First District, including:

  • Dredging for Slaughter Creek, Nanticoke River, North East River, and Wicomico River
  • Replacing the Newark Water Treatment Plant in Worcester County
  • A Replacement for the Army Corps Dredge Currituck
  • Beach Replenishment for Ocean City
  • Infrastructure Improvement for Easton Utilities
  • Replacing the Town of North East’s Pump Station
  • Upgrading Aberdeen, Maryland’s Water infrastructure
  • Funding the Chesapeake Bay Program

District Updates

Honoring Law Enforcement Appreciation Day

I want to thank the law enforcement officers who serve across Maryland’s First District, from our rural towns to our coastal communities. Every day, these men and women put themselves on the line to protect our neighborhoods, respond to emergencies, and support the people they serve. I am deeply grateful for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to keeping our district safe.

Protecting Maryland Communities with the Maryland National Guard

This week, I met with Janeen Birckhead, Adjutant General of the Maryland National Guard, to discuss how Congress can continue to support the Guard’s mission in Maryland. We talked about priorities tied to readiness and infrastructure that allow Guard members to respond quickly to emergencies, natural disasters, and deployments. I am deeply grateful for the Maryland National Guard’s service and commitment to protecting our communities and keeping Marylanders safe, and I remain committed to supporting their work.

Meeting with Secretary Kennedy on National Nutrition Policy

This week, I joined Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Administration leaders to highlight the work being done at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services under President Trump. The Dietary Guidelines are returning to science-based recommendations that focus on real health and better nutrition, not highly processed foods. This update puts Americans’ health first and makes guidance more practical for families.

WATCH: Bannon's War Room

This week, I discussed the House Freedom Caucus’s legislative priorities and the need to codify President Trump’s executive actions into law on Steve Bannon’s War Room. Our focus is border security, election integrity, and restoring accountability. We need to pass H.R. 2 to secure the border, and we need election laws that ensure only American citizens are voting. Voter ID is common sense. Nearly 80 percent of Americans agree you should show an ID to vote, and mail-in voting requires even stronger safeguards. This is how we turn the President’s priorities into lasting law and deliver results that cannot be reversed.
