The attacks are coming from all fronts. The Trump administration has suspended funds for needy families in five Democratic-led states, and is also proposing to repeal a rule that makes child care more affordable for those receiving subsidies across the country. And reports are coming out of Ohio, Idaho, Massachusetts, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Washington, Maine, and San Diego, California, that right-wing influencers have been showing up at day care centers terrorizing children, parents, and providers.
The State Innovation Exchange, National Women's Law Center, and Child Care For Every Family Network are hosting an emergency briefing and strategy session on Friday, January 16th at 1 pm EST to make sense of the Trump Administration's latest multi-pronged attacks on childcare in the states, and how to take action. We have also launched a toolkit that we will update regularly with the latest policy, messaging, and actions for legislators.
The Trump administration is putting children, families, and providers at risk—destabilizing families, threatening the closure of small child care businesses, and damaging our broader economy, all while doing nothing to address the ongoing child care and affordability crisis.
