The Washington Post: “VA plans to abruptly eliminate tens of thousands of unfilled health care jobs”

Internal documents show that the Trump administration is working to slash around 35,000 critical health care positions at VA across the country, including doctors, nurses, and support staff.

Time and again, this administration and Republicans in Congress have shown that they want to dismantle and weaken the VA so they can sell it off to the highest bidder—at the expense of my fellow veterans’ earned care.

I proudly wore the uniform and deployed several times in service to our country, so I sure as hell won’t sit back and watch Trump’s VA fail the people who gave so much to our country.

My fellow veterans and I signed a blank check when we stepped up to serve, and in return, our government made a sacred promise to deliver the care that we’ve earned.

But this administration and Congressional Republicans seem obsessed with privatizing and gutting the VA—including recently revealed plans to slash tens of thousands of healthcare jobs.

Let’s call this what it is, John: a betrayal of veterans.

Here in Western PA and across the country, people are fired up and angry about this news. My fellow veterans who have given so much earned so much better than this. That’s why I won’t back down in the fight to defend veterans’ earned care and stand up to the Trump administration.
