Dear Protect CVI Community,
The recent shootings involving ICE and other federal agents are devastating, as are the mass amounts of violence across the country against so many of our people. In Northridge, California, an off-duty ICE agent shot and killed a father named Keith Porter. In Minneapolis, Minnesota, an ICE agent shot and killed a young mother named Renee Nicole Good. In Portland, Oregon, two people were shot and injured by federal agents.
We know that this hits home to so many, as your communities are still dealing with similar acts of violence from occupations across the country. We understand the need for immediate action to support organizations on the ground and those you serve as they navigate the ripple effects of trauma these actions are causing.
We have heard from many of you and our community-based partners on the ground who are connecting and organizing to support those directly impacted and communities still at risk in Minnesota and across the country.
This Sunday at 6 pm CST , we will host an all-hands-on-deck call for the Protect CVI community and have partners from the violence prevention fields join together to plan and support each other.
