Earlier this week, in response to unsubstantiated claims of child care fraud promoted by social media influencers, the current administration and the Department of Health and Human Services announced it would withhold child care funding from several states, leaving millions of families and providers across the country scrambling to figure out what comes next.

This isn't the first time care has been threatened or withheld by this administration.

Late last year, Immigration and Customs Enforcement stormed a childcare center in Chicago and abducted one of their teachers without a warrant, all while terrified children looked on. All of this was done with our public dollars.

Last summer, the majority in Congress cut a trillion dollars from Medicaid, Medicare, and the Affordable Care Act, a historic and devastating move that has left millions of children, families, and aging and disabled adults reeling and struggling to find affordable care.

And now, Immigration and Customs Enforcement can use Medicaid data to find and deport immigrants. Receiving care should never put us at risk.

We can’t let members of this administration or anyone set this the dangerous precedent. Our care is not up for grabs.

They’ve stripped millions of essential care through historic Medicaid cuts, and now they’re holding child care hostage as children return to school. We can’t let this happen again.
