OCA Condemns ICE Murder of Minnesotan Renee Nicole Good
ICE’s fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good, a mother of three and legal observer in Minneapolis, is unacceptable, and an immediate investigation into the responsible federal officers must take place.
Washington, D.C. — OCA - Asian Pacific American Advocates vehemently condemns the actions of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in their fatal shooting of Minnesota resident Renee Nicole Good.
On Wednesday, January 7, ICE officers deployed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, shot 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good as she was driving away from them. Renee was a mother of three, a poet, and was present that day as a legal observer monitoring ICE activity. Reports indicate that after she was shot, federal agents did not render medical assistance immediately. OCA extends its deepest condolences to Renee’s family, loved ones, and children as they grieve this unimaginable loss.
“It is crystal clear that federal occupation of our communities via ICE agents does NOT ensure our safety. When federal agents can shoot at innocent civilians and then deny them medical care, we are witnessing government-sanctioned murder,” said Thu Nguyen, Executive Director of OCA - Asian Pacific American Advocates. “This is not about safety, and it is certainly not democracy. The United States’ immigration enforcement should not need to engage in tactics reminiscent of the Tiananmen Square Massacre. Our federal agents should be protecting our freedoms, not violating them.”
OCA demands the immediate extraction of the federal officers who killed Renee Nicole Good and calls for a fair, impartial, and unbiased investigation.
