Fresh polling conducted by DemosAU for Capital Brief, the first voting intention survey of the new year, has delivered a monumental result for One Nation.
One Nation has drawn level with the Coalition on 23% of the primary vote, marking a historic breach of Australia’s entrenched two-party system.
Most interesting is the two-party-preferred measure, which shows One Nation would be 50% to Labor's 50% in a nationwide match-up. This is the first time a non-major party has been included in the TPP count.

Dear John,
Too late, too weak, and still refusing to tell the truth
Prime Minister Albanese has finally announced a Royal Commission into the Bondi terror attack, but Australians should ask why it took so long and what he is still refusing to face.
Dragged kicking and screaming into action, Albanese spent weeks attacking the very idea of a Royal Commission. That delay has damaged trust, and Australians know it.
Even now, the Prime Minister will not say three words:
Radical. Islamic. Terrorism.
A Royal Commission that cannot name the problem is pointless. If the cause is ignored, nothing will be fixed and no one will be safer.
Let’s be clear. On December 14, two radical Islamic terrorists murdered 15 innocent Jewish Australians in an ISIS-inspired, hate-filled attack. This was terrorism, driven by radical Islam, and the Prime Minister refuses to say it out loud.
The Jewish community was the target, but every Australian was under attack. Radical Islamist extremists have already threatened Christmas events, New Year’s celebrations and public gatherings across our country. This is about our safety and whether Australia still has the courage to defend its values.
Labor’s contempt for Australians is clear. After delaying the Royal Commission, Albanese appointed a figure already rejected by the Jewish community, undermining confidence before it has even begun.
Australians also now know Labor defunded AFP counter-terrorism units, despite the terror threat being assessed as probable. That raises a serious question. Was the delay about covering up Labor’s failures?
A proper Royal Commission must investigate how radical Islam has been allowed to flourish in Australia. That means examining immigration, citizenship and who we have brought into this country over the past 30 years.
Are they willing to assimilate with Western culture, or do they seek to tear our country apart?
The burqa, a symbol of Islamic extremist oppression, should be banned. Instead, this government allows hate preachers to operate and radical Islam to grow.
The terms of reference for the Bondi Royal Commission avoid every one of these issues.
Prime Minister Albanese should be condemned for failures that will put more Australians in danger.
Australians deserve the truth. This Prime Minister refuses to give it.
