The Lincoln Project

Friend,

A masked ICE agent shot and killed a woman in Minneapolis yesterday.

In a normal world there would be hearings.

In a normal world there would be accountability.

But this is Trump’s world. And it’s not normal.

Because the president will never hold anyone around him accountable, that means it’s up to Congress to investigate. In fact, Congress should be DEMANDING an investigation into Trump’s unhinged private police force and how it’s gone completely off the rails.

But you know and we know it will never happen because the MAGA sycophants are totally fine with this.

A majority of members of Congress have fallen so deep into Trump’s grasp that they’re scared to investigate the president’s private police force killing people in the streets.

Trump has declared war on Minnesota, and Congress is standing by and watching. That’s unacceptable.

We don’t have all the facts yet, but one thing’s for sure: this isn’t something to sweep under the rug – because any of us could be next if we don’t stand up now and say ENOUGH.

America isn’t a place where the right to live is decided by MAGA cosplaying douche bags who wanted a $50,000 signing bonus. And Americans shouldn’t live under constant fear of being killed on our streets – especially by an untrained (and unnecessary) pseudo-police force.

Life or death? Those are the stakes we now face this year. Every one of the cowards in the House who are too afraid of Trump or their own base to do their constitutional duty needs to go. Trump will keep pushing. This will keep getting worse. And only we can stop him.
