Yesterday was the 5th anniversary of the January 6th insurrection, a day when MAGA attempted a hostile takeover of the American government and was unsuccessful.
It was unsuccessful because they were too loud, too bold, and too many people were watching. They learned their lesson and determined that the next January 6th would need to be quiet, covert, and carried out under our noses within existing political systems.
Now they are ready to give it another go.
In 2026, there will be obscure state Supreme Court elections in the key swing states of Arizona, Michigan, Georgia, and Wisconsin. If MAGA loyalists capture these courts, they’ll make it all but impossible for Dems to have a path to reclaiming the White House and secure a guaranteed third term for Trump.
The Democratic strategy for winning Presidential elections requires winning a combination of these states. MAGA control of these courts would give them the final call on declaring winners and losers in elections held in each state — if we lose these courts, Dems will not be able to reclaim the White House for at least a decade.
Rather than masked men roaming the halls of Congress with zip ties, MAGA’s coup will be defined by secretly pumping millions of dollars into these obscure state Supreme Court races while the media and pundits fixate on Congressional midterm races.
The national party will be stretched thin competing for control of both the Senate and the House. So Defend Our Courts is stepping up to lead the defense of these courts.
