🎉 The CA Housing Bond Moves Forward! |
NPH staff and partners with SB 417 sponsor Senator Cabaldon |
Great news! Yesterday, the Affordable Housing Bond Act of 2026 passed out of the Senate Housing Committee and is one step closer to appearing on the November 2026 ballot. SB 417 (Cabaldon) was approved by a vote of 8-1 and now moves to the Senate Appropriations Committee. NPH Executive Director Amie Fishman (pictured below) was proud to represent our members in testifying in support of the housing bond during the hearing in Sacramento.
The 2026 Affordable Housing Bond Act would place a $10 billion affordable housing bond measure before voters in 2026 and provide communities across the state with a stable source of funding for affordable housing production, preservation, and first time home-buyer programs.
Affordable housing is a top issue for Bay Area and California communities, and must remain a top priority for California lawmakers. We applaud Senate President pro Tempore Monique Limón’s commitment to affordable housing solutions by bringing this proposal forward during the first week of this year’s legislative session. |
