During an Instagram Q&A, someone asked me:

Because Republicans — who have control of the House, the Senate, and the White House — enacted 2 major things just weeks ago:
1. They ended Affordable Care Act insurance subsidies which cause insurance rates to more than double, and
2. They made a trillion dollars in cuts to Medicaid and healthcare, skyrocketing healthcare costs.
A lot of people think this kind of thing won't affect them if they aren't on Medicaid, Medicare, or the Affordable Care Act.
They are, sadly, mistaken.
Massive cuts to our healthcare system also forces private insurance to skyrocket because the whole system will have to make up the difference.
This is why the government was shut down, by the way — trying to prevent these ACA insurance hikes from going into place.
