Writing on Truth Social, the president said if Iran shoots and "violently kills peaceful protesters, which is their custom, the United States of America will come to their rescue."

"We are locked and loaded and ready to go," Trump said.

Trump Administration Is Sending 2,000 Immigration Agents to Minneapolis Following Fraud Reports

The Trump administration is deploying about 2,000 federal agents to Minnesota following an investigation that revealed large-scale fraud in the Twin Cities area.

The Department of Homeland Security plans to send officers to Minneapolis from Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Homeland Security Investigations agencies, CBS News first reported.

Officials familiar with the Trump administration’s plans told CBS News that agents and officers will oversee a 30-day surge of immigration resources to the Twin Cities area.

A former law enforcement official told CBS the surge of immigration officials to Minneapolis is significant, calling the city “the new Chicago.” The Trump administration carried out a large-scale immigration operation in Chicago in the fall, led by Customs and Border Protection Commander Gregory Bovino.

HHS Repeals Biden-era Rules on Paying Child Care Providers

As fraud investigations continue into Minnesota’s social services programs, federal administrators on Jan. 5 rescinded a series of Biden-era child care rules that required states to pay providers before verifying attendance records and before care was provided.

The repeal, which requires a 30-day public comment period, would close loopholes that allow states to distribute federal social services funds without the documentation, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

“Paying providers upfront based on paper enrollment instead of actual attendance invites abuse,” HHS Deputy Secretary Jim O’Neill said in a statement. “In Minnesota, we’ve seen credible and widespread allegations of fraudulent daycare providers who were not caring for children at all. The reforms we are enacting will make fraud harder to perpetrate.”

Minnesota became the center of a federal investigation into widespread social services fraud last month, prompting Gov. Tim Walz to end his bid for reelection on Jan. 5.
