I was there on January 6th, 2021, as Katie Porter’s Chief of Staff.

I’ll never forget being barricaded in the Capitol complex with Katie while insurrectionists tried to stop the election certification.

I was terrified, Herbert — for our lives, and for our Democracy.

So, I started an organization to stamp out political violence, fight authoritarianism, and protect free and fair elections.

We worked to prevent January 6th insurrectionists from ever getting elected to office.

I never planned to run for office myself — but after watching Trump abuse his executive power and take an ax to our free press — I made the pressing choice to get off the sidelines.

Because I refuse to allow Republicans to hand the reins of our Democracy to Donald Trump.

I refuse to watch them unravel our most fundamental Constitutional protections.

And I refuse to let them excuse and enable political violence like the January 6th insurrection.

So, I’m stepping up to do what Republicans won’t: stand up to Donald Trump and put our Democracy first. Hear me when I say this: The stakes have never been higher, and this win is in sight. I'm deadlocked in the closest House race in the country — one that could decide control of the entire House — and every dollar could make or break my odds.
