Team,
I’m on my way to DC for our first week back in Congress in the new year.
As I’m traveling, the impact of this day, January 6th, weighs heavily on my mind. We will never forget the impact of this day from five years ago:
- More than 140 police officers were injured.
- Several lost their lives.
- Our democracy was significantly dented.
- MAGA Republicans in Congress are trying to rewrite history and erase the events of that day.
I wasn't in Congress on January 6th, but I remember watching in horror from New Jersey as MAGA leadership sought to undermine democracy with a violent insurrection. To always remember, I have placed in front of my office a copy of the plaque honoring our law enforcement that they buried and refused to display. Regardless of the story that they now try to sell about that day, history has not changed and the need for strong leadership in Washington who respect lives of heroes lost and stand up for truth and working families has only increased.
I will always fight for our police officers, to protect our democracy, and to make America work for working families again. I am laser-focused on delivering for our district, lowering costs and working families across the country, no matter what MAGA says or does.
If you're with me, please support my campaign by making a contribution today and helping us take back the House to get Congress back on track and put a check on this administration.
Thank you,
Nellie Pou
