John, President Trump and his far-right allies let health care costs shoot up rather than come to the table and find a solution.

This is unacceptable. First, extreme Republicans decided to slash Medicaid because it was politically convenient (my opponent even called their legislation a “huge win”). Then, they let Affordable Care Act subsidies expire because their radical ideology is more important than keeping Americans healthy.

Now, millions of Americans are starting 2026 wondering if their budgets will stretch to cover an unexpected cost or making impossible choices about what and where to cut back.

This is a crisis.

Improving health care access — making care more affordable and accessible — has been at the top of my priority list for my entire career. And when I was Governor of North Carolina, we made a heck of a lot of progress by expanding Medicaid.

But North Carolinians and folks across the country are now at risk of losing access to the care that they deserve, and I will not stand for it. As the next Democratic Senator from NC, I will fight for affordable health care for every American.
