Hi John,

Australia is special.

In just over 120 years, we’ve built one of the world’s strongest democracies. We value a fair go, hard work, and freedom. People from all backgrounds have helped shape a country that is safe, stable, and respected around the world.

We have done this by being committed to a shared set of values and to protecting and promoting an Australian way of life.

Australia’s success is worth celebrating.

It’s no wonder so many Australians are angry about spending $1.5 million of taxpayers’ money on a university study on Australia Day, including teaching materials that argue for changing the date of our national day in our schools.

Families are struggling with rising costs, and when our national security and social cohesion are under real pressure, giving this grant shows the government has the wrong priorities.

We should be investing in bringing Australians together, not funding academic projects that risk deepening division.

Australia isn’t perfect. No country is.

But it is a remarkably successful, young democracy. It is worth protecting, promoting, and passing on with pride.

So, here’s the question:
Should the government be focusing on protecting the Australian way of life and our freedoms, or keep reopening debates that most Australians have already settled? What do you think?
