If flipping Texas is on your resolution list for 2026, then it’s time to talk strategy.
This year isn’t about one election. It’s a marathon. Texans could be voting up to six times in 2026—and our very first major opportunity to win is happening this month.
On January 31, we have a real shot to FLIP a State Senate seat in North Texas with Democrat Taylor Rehmet’s runoff election. Taylor is a veteran and union leader who nearly won outright in November, forcing a runoff after earning 48% of the vote against two Republicans. This seat is within reach, but only if we organize early and show up strong.
Next comes March 3—the 2026 primary. This is where Texans choose the team that will carry us into November.
During that election, voters will decide our nominee for U.S. Senate, with the big contenders being Jasmine Crockett and James Talarico. We’ll choose who takes on Greg Abbott for Governor. And we’ll pick Democratic nominees for state legislative races across Texas. This is where the direction of our party is set before the biggest fight of the year.
Then comes the finale on November 3: the midterm election where we actually take seats and change who has power in Texas. But here’s what can’t be ignored:
Between those “Big Three” elections are special and local elections in April and May. These are the trap dates—low-turnout elections that fly under the radar, where momentum drops and Republicans often quietly lock in power.
