Who they book, who they legitimize, and who they treat as a “serious voice” shapes what millions of Americans believe is normal, acceptable, and true. And right now, that power is being abused. Major TV news programs continue to book partisan hacks who repeatedly tell blatantly obvious lies, but are introduced as “analysts” or “strategists,” or some other title that implies they are serious thinkers.  This isn’t balance. It’s fiction masquerading as fact, and it’s killing our democracy. Lies are presented as being equally valid as the truth. Dangerous extremism goes unchallenged. And our ability to use actual facts to chart our future is dealt a fatal blow. It is time for news networks and programs to immediately: - Stop booking individuals with a documented history of repeated false statements as “analysts” or neutral commentators - Fact check obvious lies in real-time - Clearly label political operatives as such, not as independent experts
This is not about silencing opinions. It’s about refusing to amplify lies. Democracy depends on a shared reality. News organizations should defend it, not erode it. Add your name, and tell the TV news networks: “Stop Booking Serial Liars as ‘Analysts’ on TV News” |
