Assalamu Alaikum John,
2025 was a historic year for Virginians and the Emgage Action DMV chapter.
We organized for the primary and general elections, and brought out the Muslim vote by knocking on 7,100 doors, making 134,430 calls, and sending 206,749 texts. These conversations with our community helped elect our endorsees, including the first Muslim Lieutenant Governor nationwide, Senator Ghazala Hashmi, and Attorney General elect-Jay Jones. |

Connecting with our community went beyond elections or candidates. We tabled at events, like Souq Social, where we ensured we were easily reachable to our community. We also launched: | |
|
Beyond our field work, we also hosted a Capitol Hill Advocacy Day and invited students from across the DMV, who joined our Congressional meetings on the humanitarian crises in Sudan and Myanmar and gained real world experience. |
|
|
Our policy work at the local and state level included protecting students’ right to free speech and protest, fighting against the rise of 287(g) agreements (partnerships between ICE and local police departments) in Virginia, and advocating against state tax dollars going to Israeli weapons manufacturers. Our call to actions for the latter two helped raise awareness among our community, and we are determined to continue fighting for just and humane policies for all. |
As we enter the new year, we want to thank you for making this work possible. Every year has its ups and downs, but every new voter registered, Emerging Leader inspired, and community member given a voice makes it all worth it. We believe that is what leads to change. We are proud of our work and excited to continue to scale.
We will need your support in 2026 more than ever. Donate here to make sure this work continues. |
