Courts have forced Trump to remove or halt deployments of National Guard troops in some of our cities—but Trump is vowing they’ll return to majority-minority places like Chicago in time for next year’s primary elections.
He’s trying to normalize putting troops in our streets and silencing dissent so he and his billionaire friends can expand control over us. He will likely aim to put troops outside of polling locations, attempting to intimidate those who oppose his racist agenda and to cling to a narrow congressional majority.
At a time when the U.S. Supreme Court refuses to put a stop to Trump’s illegal power grabs, we need a Congress that will hold him accountable. We all remember the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025, which Trump claimed he knew nothing about. In the first 11 months of his administration, Trump has acted swiftly in implementing these extremist policies, attacking our democracy, implementing fascist ideology, and moving to unconstitutionally destroy government programs and agencies—from the Dept. of Education to the Environmental Protection Agency.
Now, the Heritage Foundation has released their 2026 policy priorities, building on Project 2025. They want to eliminate all government spending and protections for the people while subsidizing billionaires and deregulating corporations.
They’ll try to further limit access to abortion, and further undermine educators’ ability to discuss race and sexuality in the classroom. They’re planning to increase their attacks on the trans community and on our elections.
With the right-wing majority on the U.S. Supreme Court going along with Trump’s unprecedented power grabs, we need federal lawmakers who will hold Trump accountable, defend our communities, and fight for a better future.
Tomorrow at midnight we’ll close the books on 2025. And we need to show the power of our movement.
