Hi Revealer,

My name is Kate Howard, and I am an editorial director at the Center for Investigative Reporting, working on partnerships for Reveal, More To The Story, CIR Studios and Mother Jones.

We’re proud this year to have been a part of nearly a dozen essential investigations in partnership with other newsrooms. We know that journalism is stronger when we work together, combining our staff and strengths to bring you the best possible stories. Among them:
* We joined an international collaborative led by Lighthouse Reports that exposed a powerful technology used to spy on thousands of people across the world ([link removed]) .
* We worked with KYUK, a public radio station in remote Alaska to detail their lifesaving coverage of natural disasters and the catastrophic impact that federal funding cuts could have on their future ([link removed]) .
* We worked with Mississippi Today and the New York Times to expose big problems in the Rankin County, Mississippi sheriff’s department: a group of deputies who were torturing drug users in the community ([link removed]) and the routine violence used against, and committed by, people held in their jail ([link removed]) .
* We joined the Food and Environment Reporting Network (FERN) in investigating a meatpacking company’s long reliance on immigrant labor, its track record of mistreating those workers, and their path into becoming targets of President Donald Trump’s mass deportation agenda.
* With Al Jazeera’s Fault Lines, we followed Dr. Mimi Syed from her work in Gaza to the halls of Congress as she appealed to policymakers to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Our partners were absolutely essential in making this work possible—both the newsrooms we collaborate with as well as the readers, listeners, and viewers like you who help to pay for it.
