You probably know what I am about to ask. I know I’ve asked a number of
times, so before I ask for your financial support today, I think you
deserve an explanation.

Before I was a candidate for U.S. Senate, like you, I read a lot of emails
from candidates about how important these FEC deadlines were. Well, I can
say first-hand the stakes and pressure you feel as a candidate are very
real.

These deadlines are important as a matter of transparency. When we report
our numbers to the Federal Election Commission, the public will see
exactly who is funding our campaign — and our opponents.

I’m proud to show the world that this is a true grassroots campaign. We’re
funded by the people. We’re the only campaign in this race that has never
taken a dime of corporate PAC money.

But that makes our task that much harder. They can call one corporate PAC
to give them $10,000. With our average donation around $30, it takes over
300 people giving to match that. That's why asks like this one are so
important:

have as many donations as possible before tonight’s FEC deadline. Each one
is a powerful show of force for our movement.

The numbers we report are also analyzed by the media and our opponents.
They’ll be judging if our movement has what it takes to beat the
billionaire mega-donors and their puppet politicians.

In this new and more expensive race we face, a weak report means political
pundits and the corporate media will write us off before Texans even get a
chance to make their voice heard.

We can’t let that happen.

We set a goal for our fundraising that will ensure that does not happen —
one that can show we have sustained our momentum and only grown stronger.
But truthfully, we still have some ground to make up to get there.

I’m hoping you can help us send a message loud and clear that the people
have our back. We won’t be bullied by the attack ads they’ve already run
against me or their billionaire mega-donors.
