Friend,
I wanted to personally reach out to you today, on New Year’s Eve — a special day to pause, to reflect on the year behind us and to show generosity toward the future we hope to build.
I also wanted to tell you that ✨ this match is funded by thousands of committed donors like you who have stepped up to match your impact for justice, dollar for dollar. ✨ Today, as we close out this challenging year for so many, you give because you believe in justice, too.
❗And as we prepare for a new year, our work is especially critical. Hate and extremism are threatening our civil and human rights. Our democracy is being undermined by relentless attacks on voting. And the far right is leveraging anti-DEI rhetoric to rob marginalized groups of their power and force them into the shadows.
Friend, that’s why it’s so important that you make your generous gift today — every dollar you give before midnight will be matched dollar-for-dollar, meaning you’ll make double the impact on our work to eradicate poverty, protect democracy and ensure justice and human rights for all. Because donations are tax-deductible and matched today, every dollar you give now goes even further towards supporting our advocacy and legal efforts.
When we talk about impact, we’re really talking about people — families, communities and futures.
People like Tina Payne, a lifelong Mississippian whose story shows exactly why your support matters so deeply.

Tina’s story shows the reality so many families are facing.
Tina spent decades operating machinery in a catfish processing plant in the Mississippi Delta. The work was grueling, and years of hard labor took a heavy toll on her body, leaving her disabled.
When Tina applied for Medicaid, she expected the system she had paid into for years would be a safety net. Instead, she endured months of red tape only to receive a denial that left her in pain and without coverage.
Tina deserved better — and we know you agree.

Tina was eventually able to enroll in Medicaid after months of relying on her family and friends for help, rationing medication and skipping doctor’s appointments she could not afford.
And she is not alone in this struggle. Her experience reflects a systemic failure rooted in part of a much older story about how the South has long denied Black people access to care, dignity and rest.
Friend, I shared Tina’s story with you because we want you to know just how meaningful your gift can be.
When you make your matched gift to the SPLC today, you’ll double your impact on our work to ensure people can live in a world free of injustice, where all people are afforded dignity and human rights. ([link removed])
