John, I’ve got a free minute on the schedule here. That might not seem like a lot of time, but with everything happening lately, trust me: It’s a gift.
With that minute, I just wanted to write to say thank you (and make a small request).
Life hasn’t always been easy. Growing up, my parents sometimes struggled to make ends meet. In the Navy, I put my life on the line every time I took off. And at NASA, it’s no small task to launch into space.
When Gabby was shot… Well, that wasn’t easy either.
But as a kid, I always had my brother Scott. In the Navy, I had a whole squadron backing me up. At NASA, I had my crew with me and mission control support. And when Gabby was injured, it seemed like the whole country was rooting for her.
It’s been another crazy year, and an especially crazy month. But I’ve been so, so lucky these past few weeks because I have you. It’s an incredible comfort knowing that you and a ton of others have been supporting me.
Thank you. Truly.
Honestly, that support should be enough. I wish I didn’t need to ask more of you. But with the full weight of the executive branch bearing down on me, that’s what I have to do.
I have to ask you to do a bit more.
Tomorrow, our final FEC deadline of the year hits. We’ve got a steep climb to hit our goals before then — but together, we can do it. And by hitting those goals, we’ll send a message that Trump can’t ignore.
We’re not going anywhere.
