First I want to thank you for being a part of what we do here at the Prospect. As I reflect on 2025, I have an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for our readers and supporters. We’re in challenging times, but being a part of the Prospect community alongside you makes the road ahead less daunting.
Your support powers our in-depth reporting and analysis, but also powers our fellowship program training the next generation of progressive voices at a time when the industry, especially for early career journalists, is in crisis. Your support helps us plan ambitious reporting projects that only the Prospect can do. Your support is the backbone of our work here at the Prospect– it keeps our journalism in front of a paywall so everyone can read it regardless of their ability to pay.

I will shoot you straight here: we’re behind on our December fundraising goal with only a few days left in the year. We need to hit this goal to continue to do the work you value enough to be reading this email. A generous donor has stepped in to offer a match of your donation dollar for dollar until the end of the year. Can you chip in today to support our work in 2026?

I recall the feelings I had after the first Trump election in 2016: a sense of dislocation, confusion, and fear. But, after that, a feeling of gratitude that the work I do is meaningful and important to the things I care about: a free press, a vibrant democracy, and a healthy discourse about the things that actually matter to real people. It is a real privilege to work at a place like the Prospect and I am able to do that work because of people like you who read and support our journalism.
Onwards,
