What lit the fire that made you care about climate change? ❤️‍🔥

Every one of us has a reason—a moment, a person, a place—that brought us to this work. Different reasons, a shared purpose to build a better future for all of us.

And today, whatever you can give ([link removed]) will go twice as far in powering that shared purpose. Thanks to a generous donor, all gifts made by 12/31 will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $50,000.

2X YOUR IMPACT ([link removed])

Hi there,

What made you care about the climate crisis? Was there a specific moment or experience that fuels you in this work? What keeps you going?

In October, our team gathered together in Milwaukee. During the year, we’re spread out across the country, often separated by thousands of miles. But always united by a shared mission to tackle the climate crisis and build a thriving and just clean energy future.

While in Milwaukee, we toured a local neighborhood alongside one of our partner organizations, which leads on environmental justice work (among so many other things) to directly better the lives of people there. Before we hit the pavement, we kicked off the morning discussing what brought each of us to the work we do:

📍 One of my colleagues talked about being from a coal mining family in Wyoming and seeing her grandfather left behind (and his pension cut) when the company filed bankruptcy. She stays in this work because she doesn’t want to see more fossil fuel workers cast aside, but instead retrained to build a clean energy economy.

📍 Another teammate spoke about their experience living through a devastating climate disaster that tore through their community and turned their neighbors’ lives upside down. They do this work to raise awareness that climate change isn’t some distant threat, but that it’s here now and impacting lives across the world.

📍 Other folks in the room mentioned being drawn to the intersectionality of climate change and how it intertwines with existing social, economic, and political inequalities that affect certain communities more than others. They stay in this fight to make sure that the climate solutions we come up with are equitable and leave no one behind.

Even after working with some of these people for years, hearing the incredible reasons that brought them to this work…well, it was galvanizing, to say the least.

Whatever your reason is to stay in this work, I know it’s powerful.

But the forces against us, namely Big Polluters and their allies? Their sole motivation is to line their own pockets, at the expense of our wellbeing, our future, and our climate.

It will take all of us, with our unique reasons but united by shared purpose, to build the future we deserve. Today, I’m asking you to invest in that collective power. Thanks to a generous donor, all gifts made this week will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $50,000. ([link removed])

DOUBLE YOUR IMPACT NOW ([link removed])

This is your chance to double your impact and ensure our team and our partners on the ground have the resources to keep organizing, fighting, and winning. Let’s build a better future together in 2026 and beyond–make a gift today. ([link removed])

Thank you for being part of this work. It means more than you know.

Sincerely,

Beth Poole
