John,
As the Board Chair of the Coalition on Human Needs, I cannot express how critical your support has been in advocating on behalf of vulnerable people and communities.
This year was particularly challenging, as you know. The CHN Board members I serve with, who represent groups working every day to defend against cuts to health care, nutrition, education, housing, children’s and immigrants’ services, and much more, have had a tough year. One thing is clearer than ever: none of us can wage this fight alone. We need the Coalition on Human Needs to lift up our issues and to encourage more people of conscience―like you―to join in.
Working as I do with so many different organizations, I want you to know how much good the Coalition on Human Needs is doing. Every week, about 200 key advocates are convened by CHN to learn the latest about congressional developments. Every week, expert leaders on basic needs and justice issues are able to get others to join in. Alone, we are all more vulnerable. Together, we are starting to show Congress that millions of constituents are hurting and angry that their needs are not being met.
The members of CHN’s Board of Directors and I see this, and that is why we volunteer our time to keep CHN strong.
We know you are helping to strengthen CHN and we are very grateful. In the past year, CHN’s allies have sent 2.8 million emailed messages to Congress, the Trump administration, and state officials. This, plus all the other work CHN does, is what we need to hold officials accountable and to build towards the change we so desperately need.
Thank you for all that you do.
CHN is such a critical partner and leader in our work. This is why I am asking you on behalf of the Board and staff of CHN to support our mission with an end-of-year donation of $5 to power our work in 2026.

SNAP feeds nearly one-quarter of all U.S. children and reduces hunger by 30%.1 Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program serve over 77 million people.2 Over 20 million people have benefited from ACA marketplace health insurance, and now stand to see their premiums skyrocket. No one should go hungry or go without medical care in America. And day after day, there are more attacks on access to housing, education, nutritious food, and all the routes out of poverty.
But Americans are getting frustrated and angry that their costs are rising while government actions are making things worse, not better. When they see the impact on communities nationwide, and on the vulnerable―children and families, immigrants, people with disabilities, older people―they are increasingly saying NO. CHN is playing an important part in making the harms visible, and giving people tools to speak out.
