The year is drawing to a close and I find myself thinking about the thousands of families who walked through our doors in 2025—tired and frightened, but also hopeful. As I think of them, I feel compelled to ask you, from the bottom of my heart, will you make a year-end gift right now to help one more family begin again?
Your gift today will change someone’s life tomorrow.
Someone like Anna, a Russian trafficking survivor, for whom we were able to provide temporary shelter. Or Kwaje, a South Sudanese refugee who is now able to resume her education. People whose stories are all different, but who share the hope. That somewhere, someone cares.
This is what your generosity makes possible—quiet moments of safety after months or sometimes years of terror. A warm apartment after nights spent sleeping on floors. A job interview. A hot meal. A child able to laugh again. Hope where there had only been fear. As I write this, our field offices across the country are still open—helping newcomers find housing, legal support, and the simple dignity of knowing they are welcome. Our staff can do this work because people like you believe in compassion and give generously to turn hope into reality.
Please, if you are able, make a year-end gift atRefugees.org/give. Thanks to a generous $100,000 match, your donation—whether given online or mailed to us and postmarked by January 9th—will be doubled to support twice as many families seeking safety.
To give you a glimpse of the hope your generosity creates, we’ve included a short video below. It’s just a minute long, but it captures what I see every day: families taking their first steps toward safety, dignity, and a future they can finally imagine again. I hope you’ll watch it—and feel proud of the impact you make possible.
If you’ve already given this season, thank you. Your kindness carries more weight than you know.
But if you haven’t yet, or if your heart is telling you that you can do just a little more before the year ends, I hope you will answer that call. Your generosity tonight could be the start of someone’s new life tomorrow.
With deep appreciation,
Eskinder Negash
