Today, Maryott for Congress sent a letter to Representative Mike Levin's campaign, once again asking for the incumbent to discuss critical issues in a debate forum.
Below is Team Maryott's modest request to give the constituents of California's 49th Congressional District the opportunity to hear from both candidates before casting their ballot on November 3rd:
In regards to non-negotiable aspects of these debates, our list is quite short: We insist that they happen. We hope Rep. Levin agrees, it would be unfair not to give voters of the 49th district the opportunity to hear directly from both candidates in a debate forum.
In regards to negotiable aspects of these debates, our team’s expectations are as follows:
-
Debates should be in-person, adhering to all Covid-19 safety measures
-
Debates should be free and widely accessible to the general public
-
Constituents should be admitted into the audience, Covid-19 regulations allowing
-
Event should be televised and live streamed online
-
The debates should occur before mail ballots are sent to voters on October 5th
-
Moderators should be neutral and agreed upon by both campaigns
-
Topics should be discussed and agreed upon by both campaigns
Brian Maryott also shared the following video, discussing the importance of debating:
