![]() John, In America, we throw away enough plastic each day to fill the country's largest professional football stadium to the brim.1 Plastic can take centuries to break down.2 If we keep producing and using so much plastic, all those millions of tons of plastic trash will still be piled up in landfills or polluting our environment hundreds of years from now. A future free from plastic pollution is possible -- but we have to build it together, John. PIRG has been campaigning against plastic pollution for decades, and we have a track record of winning real results. We know what works -- and supporters like you make it all possible, John. We don't take a cent from corporations. Nothing we use for just a few minutes should be allowed to pollute our communities and threaten our health for hundreds of years. We know the key is to produce and use less plastic in the first place -- but we have a lot of work to do to build more momentum in the fight against plastic pollution. In 2026, we'll keep campaigning to phase out wasteful forms of plastic nationwide; urge even more big companies like Costco and Whole Foods to get plastic packaging off their shelves; and work to curtail industry efforts to spread misinformation about plastic and recycling. As we plan for the challenges of the year ahead, we're facing tough choices about how we can have the biggest impact for the public interest. And right now, your donation can go twice as far to keep our work going strong. Thank you, Faye Park Your donation will power our dedicated staff of organizers, policy experts and attorneys who drive all of our campaigns in the public interest, from banning toxic pesticides and moving us beyond plastic, to saving our antibiotics and being your consumer watchdog, to protecting our environment and our democracy. None of our work would be possible without the support of people just like you. |
