Hi there, it’s a pleasure to meet y’all.
My name is Terri Burke, and I’m the new Executive Director for the Texas Democratic Party.
I spent more than 12 years as Executive Director of the ACLU of Texas, and you might have seen my work in outlets like the Austin American-Statesman or Dallas Morning News; two of my newsrooms even won Pulitzers if you can believe that.
Now, I’m ready to partner with Chairman Scudder and our team to roll up our sleeves and help voters and elected officials alike turn this state blue.
What my experience means is that I know policy, I know politics, and I know how to make real change happen. I’m thrilled to officially be a part of the fight for our rights and firmly believe the work ahead demands creativity, courage, and the belief that Texas’s future is still ours to write.
What a lot of folks don’t realize is that if Democrats want to win in Texas, we must turn out at least 1,000,000 like-minded voters who have been sitting out elections. The good news? They’re already out there, and we have a plan. We just have to have the funding necessary to reach them.
Kendall and I have charged our team with raising $26,000 more by the end of the year so we can make long-term, strategic investments into a field strategy that covers all 38 congressional districts. We have 104 brand new candidates that represent the defiant energy we’re seeing across the state, who will need our financial support. And it’s going to take all of our time, treasure, and talent to build relationships with over one million Democrats in 2026.
Can we count on you to chip in? I’d love my first public report as Executive Director to send a clear message to the TX GOP that we are ready. It’s game on.

This is why Democrats can’t walk away from Texas. One statewide win (that U.S. Senate seat is looking mighty good!) would blow up the myth that Texas is unwinnable for Dems — that’s the myth the GOP is clinging on to for dear life. It’s within reach — but believing in a blue Texas means funding the work now and laying the groundwork to flip the state for good.
