Here's the thing: Rural communities shouldn't just be an afterthought – they've got to be a robust part of the plan from the start.
The current GOP budget is clear on its priorities:
- Cut upwards of 35,000 healthcare jobs at the VA
- Increase ICE raids that will leave farmers short on workers and food left on the vine
- Drive up food prices and cut SNAP food assistance
- Hand out massive tax breaks to corporations and the super-rich
It reads like a greatest hits album of attacks on rural folks and farmers.
Before you close out the year and reflect on its highs, lows, and everything in between, I hope you can chip in $3 right now toward the mission to put rural Americans front and center in Congress and on the campaign trail to come.
