As we close out another successful year, we are proud to reflect on the many accomplishments, experiences, and milestones reached over the past twelve months.

President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance have worked tirelessly since Inauguration Day to usher in a new era of American prosperity. In less than a year, they have delivered significant results. President Trump and House Republicans are focused on fixing what's broken, protecting what works, and always putting the American people first.

Earlier this year, Congress passed the Working Families Tax Cuts, one of President Trump's key accomplishments, and it was signed into law on July 4. This legislation delivers meaningful tax relief for hardworking families, invests in rural healthcare, safeguards Medicaid, and supports our local farms and businesses—the very people who keep our country running. 

I look forward to continuing to work alongside President Trump to advance the America First agenda and policies that make our nation safer, stronger, and improve the quality of life for all Americans.

Last month, I had the honor of presenting three medals, including the Purple Heart, to the family and friends of Private First Class Thaddeus Buchanan Green, a World War I veteran. After the family was informed that receiving his long-approved medals could take several more years, our office was glad to step in and help navigate the process. We were honored to assist in ensuring his medals were delivered to those who cherish his legacy.

It was a privilege to present PFC Thaddeus Green's medals to his son, David Green, a Vietnam-era veteran who served in Korea in 1968.

Our office offers internships for college students during the fall, spring, and summer semesters. These internships provide students with valuable, hands-on experience in public service. Interns work closely with staff to learn about the legislative process, assist with daily officer operations, attend trainings, perform administrative duties, and support constituent services.

Last week, I was proud to witness President Donald Trump sign the Fiscal Year 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) into law. Our men and women in uniform must have the tools they need to protect our nation at home and around the world. Advancing President Trump's Peace Through Strength agenda is essential to securing America's future, and the FY26 NDAA moves that mission forward. I'm especially proud of the bipartisan, bicameral effort that made this critical legislation possible.

In May, I joined my colleagues to re-introduce the Shipbuilding and Harbor Infrastructure for Prosperity and Security (SHIPS) for America Act, comprehensive legislation to revitalize the United States shipbuilding and commercial industries.

The SHIPS for America Act aims to boost the U.S. Merchant Marine by establishing national oversight and consistent funding for U.S. maritime policy, making U.S.-flagged vessels commercially competitive in international commerce by cutting red tape, rebuilding the U.S. shipyard industrial base, and expanding and strengthening mariner and shipyard worker recruitment, training, and retention.

Strengthening America's shipbuilding capacity and revitalizing our commercial maritime industry is critical to national security and economic resilience. With China's growing influence over the maritime industry and global market, the time to act is now. Under President Trump's leadership, we're prioritizing these vital sectors.

This year, I had the honor of visiting the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72). This visit underscored the unmatched capabilities of our U.S. Navy aircraft carriers and the critical role they play in demonstrating American strength and commitment to our allies and partners.

As Chairman of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Seapower and Projection Forces, I'm committed to ensuring our Navy remains the most capable and prepared force in the world.

It was a privilege to host Academy Day 2025 in May. One of the greatest honors of serving in Congress is nominating exceptional young men and women to attend our nation's prestigious military service academies.

Each student who participates in Academy Day represents the next generation of American leaders. Admission to a service academy is highly competitive and reflects outstanding academic achievement, leadership ability, and strong character.

I am proud to recognize our 2025 appointees: Henry Gaschk of Olive Branch, appointed to the U.S. Air Force Academy, and Samuel Bain of Oxford and Conner Couch of Hernando, both appointed to the U.S. Naval Academy. It is always a privilege to meet the many young Mississippians who aspire to serve our nation through the U.S. Armed Forces.
