John, you may have seen me in classics like Mad About You, As Good As It Gets, or Twister, or more recently in The Sessions — but in real life, one of the most important roles I'll ever play is as an advocate standing up to end gun violence.

That commitment became painfully real the night I got a phone call no parent ever wants to receive. My daughter, who was a freshman in college at the time, whispered to me over FaceTime that there was a shooter on campus and that she was hiding in the dark in her dorm room.
In that moment, all I could do was sit there hoping the thin veil separating us from tragedy wouldn't break. It happened again her sophomore year. Those moments changed me forever. I'm so thankful to still have my daughter but I know far too many families across the country have lost their child to gun violence.
I believe everyone deserves to feel safe in their home, at school, at the grocery store, and in their community. That belief is why I'm proud to support Brady and their life-saving work — from advancing universal background checks to taking on the gun industry and passing meaningful laws that protect families. And it's why I'm calling on you to take action today.

Right now, your generosity can go twice as far. A group of Brady supporters has unlocked a 2X match up to $150,000, but it's only available for a limited time before the year ends. Every gift made before Dec. 31 will be doubled to power the fight to end gun violence.

The holidays remind us that we are stronger when we stand together. I hope you'll join me in committing one more powerful act of hope before the year ends.
