Ayman lives with his wife and three children in a tented area of an internally displaced persons (IDP) camp in Gaza.
Before the war, their life was ordinary in a way he now remembers with longing. But since the conflict intensified, Ayman and his family have had to flee repeatedly as the fighting approached their neighborhood. "We fled with shells over our heads," he tells us.
The family now lives in a tent made of some fabrics and plastic sheets material that provides little protection. Daily life revolves around basic survival. Ayman wakes early to bring water before the lines grow long. He stands in queues for food distributions, sometimes for hours.
Through it all, support from the IRC has become a lifeline for Ayman's family. Our daily drinking water deliveries have eased one of the family's most urgent struggles, helping them stay hydrated and avoid unsafe sources. The children also received winter clothing kits to prepare for the brutal season ahead (see pictures below). This assistance alleviates immediate hardship, shields children from cold-related illness, and restores a sense of dignity and stability.

The IRC continues working across Gaza to provide water, winter clothing, protection services and essential care. But the scale of need is far greater than the resources currently available.
