I’m Roy Cooper, and I am running to be the next Democratic United States Senator from North Carolina. I was born and raised right here in North Carolina, and I’ve worked to give back to the home that gave me so much. As Attorney General, I stood up to powerful interests when they broke the law. I went after predatory lenders, stood up to corporations that broke the rules, and fought to protect children from abuse and exploitation. As Governor, I brought thousands of jobs to NC, boosted our economy, gave public school teachers a raise, and expanded Medicaid to more than 700,000 people. I still believe that government by and for the people is worth fighting for — and that means fighting for liberty and justice for all Americans. It means speaking out for people who need a voice. It means securing access to health care. It means reaffirming our commitment to our democratic system of government — a system that is under threat like never before. I never really wanted to go to Washington, but so much progress is in danger now, and not just for North Carolinians. That’s why I’m running for U.S. Senate. I’m running because every American deserves access to health care — and that means we need to preserve Medicaid, not slash it to give billionaires a handout. I’m running because the right to reproductive freedom is fundamental — and we need to fight to restore abortion access nationwide. I’m running because everyday costs like groceries and utilities are way too high — and right now people in power would rather stand with the big corporations instead of with working families. Right now, extreme Republicans plan to limit people’s rights so only a select few have the power to decide our nation’s future or the freedom to determine how to live. They want to roll back reproductive rights, voting rights, civil rights, and more because they don’t believe that the lives of all Americans are equally important. I’ve had enough. As a U.S. Senator, I will do everything in my power to make our state and country better. I will never stop fighting for the priorities we share — like affordable health care, a planet where our children can live healthy lives, lower everyday costs, and our right to vote. We will fight back and get this country back on track. That’s why I’m asking for your help. I’m Roy Cooper, and I’d be honored to have you with me. I still believe that our best days are in our future — not our past. But only if we fix what’s broken in Washington now. I can’t do that without your support. Together, we can keep North Carolina moving forward — not backward. Thank you for being with me. |
