Your gift can go 5X as far to protect bears like me.
Hi, friend. I should be sleeping right now — but I'm scared and I need your help.
I live in what humans call the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, on the “coastal plain.” It's one of the last untouched places left in this whole country, if not the world.
To me, it's just my home. It's where my mother curled her paws around me when I was a small cub and kept me and my brothers and sisters warm and safe in our snow dens. It's where I hunt, raise my cubs, and chill with my friends.
Here, the world is frozen, wild, and safe — but right now, that safety is cracking under my paws.
Some humans want to send giant, loud machines to my home. Machines that can disturb us in the den while we're trying to care for our newborn cubs. Machines so heavy that they can crush the snow dens where newborn cubs are sleeping.
The humans who want to do this “seismic testing” know this can hurt baby polar bears and damage our home. And they want to do it anyway, because there might be something called “oil” underneath the snow-covered ground I've known my whole life.
I don't really understand the math but I'm told that's a good match!
That's FIVE TIMES further for me and other polar bears.
FIVE TIMES further for all the cubs who could be hurt by seismic testing.
FIVE TIMES as far for all the wildlife and people that live here with me.
