It’s Dan from Harvie HQ. I’m running through our finance numbers ahead of the FEC’s big fundraising deadline, and I thought I’d take a second to explain what that means and why it matters.

What is the FEC?
It stands for Federal Election Commission. It’s who we report all our fundraising numbers to so they can ensure we’re not breaking any laws!

What is an FEC end-of-quarter deadline?
Every three months, we send all of those fundraising numbers to the FEC in a big report. Then the FEC makes those numbers public so that citizens have transparency into campaign donations!

But why does it matter?
We know Brian Fitzpatrick is scared. When those fundraising numbers go public, it’s important that Bob has a strong number to report! The stronger we look, the more scared Brian Fitzpatrick and the NRCC will be.

But, John, right now we’re behind where we should be.
We’ve set a goal of raising $17,500 online in these next four days which sounds like a lot, but I think we can do it.
