Hospitals will no longer report coronavirus data to the CDC. Instead, per the Trump administration, all patient information will go straight to Washington.
Dr. Nicole Lurie, former assistant secretary for preparedness and response under President Obama, said it best: “Centralizing control of all data under the umbrella of an inherently political apparatus is dangerous and breeds distrust. It appears to cut off the ability of agencies like CDC. to do its basic job.”
We couldn’t agree more. Unfortunately, this latest broadside against scientists is part of a larger pattern of behavior within the Republican Party. We’re here to fight for elected officials who will put a stop to this dangerous strain of anti-intellectualism -- but we can’t do that without your support.
