Dear Jack,
As we approach the end of the year, it’s tempting to think we’ve reached a kind of truce. The elections are behind us, the courts are between major decisions, and the legislature is out of session. On the surface, it all feels strangely quiet.
But anyone who has walked through a few of these cycles knows this is just the calm before the storm. The next wave of bills are already being drafted. Future lawsuits are being lined up. Media campaigns are being mapped out. When all of that breaks into the open, the pace will change overnight.
This quiet season is a gift, but only if we use it wisely. It’s the time to shore up our defenses, refine our strategy, and strengthen the team that will be on the ground when the pressure returns.
That is what we are doing at NC Values right now: building, planning, and preparing.
Would you consider making a special end‑of‑year gift to NC Values Coalition or to our 501c3 sister organization, NC Values Institute, so that we can use this brief lull to get ready for the next surge?
